Working Goose Creek
Out of Park Circle the van takes Rivers Ave north until it becomes US-52, then rides it past the Otranto line into Goose Creek. St James Ave is the spine of the town; Crowfield Blvd turns off it into Crowfield Plantation, the largest neighborhood on the sheet, and Red Bank Rd runs east toward the Naval Weapons Station gate and the older subdivisions along the Cooper. Fifteen minutes gets us to the center of town, a few more to the far side of Crowfield or out toward Liberty Hall Rd. We route Goose Creek and Hanahan tickets together because one leads into the other.
Goose Creek has three kinds of houses and each breaks differently. Crowfield Plantation is 1980s and 1990s stock, mostly on second or third sets of appliances now. The newer subdivisions off Liberty Hall and Red Bank carry 2005-era builder packages that fail in waves. And the rental population around the Weapons Station turns over constantly, so landlords call us for the same duplex two or three times over a decade. The town is on Berkeley County Water and Sanitation, which runs mildly to moderately hard, so after a few years we find scale on dishwasher inlet valves, inside ice maker fill tubes and around washer valve screens. It is inland enough that salt air is not a factor here.

Gas dryer in a 1989 two-story, heating for the first five minutes and then tumbling cold. We watch the burner: it lights, runs, and the flame drops out. Meter on the gas valve coils shows one has drifted out of spec. Coils replaced from the van, vent checked to the roof cap, a load timed to the end.
Duplex near the Weapons Station gate, tenant reports the refrigerator clicking every few minutes and the milk warm. The start relay rattles when shaken and reads open. New relay and capacitor, compressor draws normal amperage on the clamp meter, landlord approves by text and gets the invoice by email.
Top-load washer that takes half an hour to fill. Both inlet valve screens are white with scale, and the hot valve is stuck part-open. We replace the valve assembly, clean the screens, and time the fill with the owner. Ten minutes shorter per load, and the leak they had not noticed behind the machine is gone.
